Connectivity VisionariesVisionaries in the CEE Region

The first in a series of roundtable discussions with ‘Connectivity Visionaries in the CEE Region’, representing companies, investments and technologies which can, in a unique and radical way, contribute to the transformation of logistics infrastructure and supply chains in Europe.

The COVID-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine have shown, even more clearly, how crucial the role of logistics infrastructure – including railways, seaports and airports – is from both a civilian/business and military point of view.

In the face of the Russian threat and following Finland’s declaration of accession to NATO, its importance as a partner country for Poland and the Baltic States has increased significantly. Planned by FinEst Bay Area Development company from Finland, a railway tunnel linking Helsinki and Tallinn, connecting further into Rail Baltica, will create an alternative connection between the Nordic region and Central and Eastern Europe, linking Finland to continental Europe by rail.

The tunnel and the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny CPK (Central Transportation Hub) are two of the largest planned infrastructure investments in Europe.

During the first roundtable debate, amongst others, the heads of the development company planning the Helsinki-Tallinn undersea tunnel, Kustaa Valtonen and Peter Vesterbacka, will explain the impact on the connectivity of the Nordic region as well as the CEE region.
